Re: Card Issues

Yup, that was it. I've never really delved too deeply into the card deck functionality and didn't realize that was how it worked. So, not a bug just my ignorance! Thanks.

Card Issues

Was playing a game that involved cards and had some odd behavior. Opened a saved game and found that the cards in both the discard pile and the player hand would only display the card back. When I tried to turn them over using the "<" or ">" key nothing happened. The parent deck didn't exhibit this ...

Re: Conversion of DVG's Warfighter

My initial impression when I ran across it several months ago was that it was a lot of eye candy but not a whole lot of substance. Thanks for the heads up. I'll wait a while and see where it ends up. I'm in no real hurry since I really like working with BGE.

Re: Conversion of DVG's Warfighter

Don't know much about this program but it looks interesting. Looks like they have a pretty active community though. I'm half tempted to buy a copy of tabletop simulator just to play with it.

Re: Conversion of DVG's Warfighter

Guess I could ask them about making the module available. I don't think that any of their games are freely available as Vassal modules. Some of their titles are available as Vassal modules but to obtain one you have to purchase it (if I remember correctly it's something like $3o) which I think may b...

Conversion of DVG's Warfighter

I received DVG's Warfighter as a Christmas gift and converted it into a module so I could play it in BGE. Here is a screenshot of my latest game: Warfighter.jpg The objective was to clear the last location of bad guys and take out the cartel boss. I ran out of time but I was so outnumbered that I wo...

Wonderful, an asterisk as a label modal flag. I'm looking forward to it. Thanks.

Re: Resurrectng a Classic

I figured as much. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I would find the modal label arrangement to be much more useful.

Re: Resurrectng a Classic

I've looked at the label feature a few times. I don't like having to uncheck one item, then reopening the contextual menu to check the new item. It's too much clicking for me. I would prefer to just open the menu, select the new item and have it automatically uncheck the old selection in that headin...

Re: Resurrectng a Classic

Getting the images scanned and prepped took 3 hours but I am really particular about getting the various pieces of maps stitched together. Putting the module together was 30 minutes. I spent another 30 minutes experimenting with mini's versus components for the aircraft. I ended up using mini's beca...

Resurrectng a Classic

Don't know what started this line of thinking, but I got this urge to create a module for the very first war board game I ever bought. So I dusted my 50 year old copy of Milton Bradley's Dogfight off and scanned everything in. I've played a couple of games solo and it brought back a lot of memories....

I just tested the "replace token" command with BGE 1.7 in Windows 7. It worked OK for me.

Re: Would this be able to make an original game?

Hi Amaria. There is no such thing as a stupid question! Short answer is yes if you have the graphic files for the various components. When I started converting games it took a little trial and error to figure it out, but I got comfortable with it pretty quickly. If you decide to proceed and hit some...

Re: Assault at Cold Harbor

Ya, the biggest one I've seen is 8.5x11. The last two games I posted came from a publication they release every so often they call Panzer Digest. It usually includes a couple of small games and articles. The games are quick to build modules for and play quickly. Guess you could call them diversions ...

Assault at Cold Harbor

Another small solitaire game published by Minden Games that I threw together this morning to play. I usually put my first attempt together, then tweak it as I play it for the first time.

Re: Lobby Server Status: Up

Have to admit, I've never checked in on the lobby. So I did, and of course I was the only one there. I'll check in every so often just to see if I run across anyone. Maybe I'll run across someone!

Minden Games Salvo:Mers-el-Kebir, 1940

Something I threw together on Saturday to play. This is a small solitaire game published in Minden Games Panzer Digest #12. It's a small stand-alone game based on their Salvo navel war game system. I enjoy this game system, just complicated enough to be interesting with scenarios that are typically ...

Re: Ostfront in BGE

But frequently you need to return the drawn chit or card back to the deck to maintain the desired statistical frequency, which is the case in Ostfront.

Re: Ostfront in BGE

Hernan, one more item came to mind. A lot of games use chit or card pull mechanics and I usually create card decks of these. To pull a random chit or card from the stack/deck I end up shuffling the group then turning the top one over. It would be useful to be able to do this with one click rather th...

Re: Ostfront in BGE

Nothing earth shaking comes to mind, but there are several niggly things. It would be nice if the program remembered what I set for session specific settings. I shut off the view bar every time I use the program and wish I didn't have too. Is there any way to quickly pick locked and tiled items off ...

Re: Ostfront in BGE

I posted several screen shots of what is essentially the final version of my development of Ostfront in BGE. If anyone is interested they can use the link above to see them. I've played a few standalone scenarios and have just started a campaign game which consists of seven scenarios. As an aside, I...
