Re: Announcing my next project

I would support any development in this area
Seems to have gone deadish for the last decade. Don't know if that is a pointer to potential though.

Re: BG Content Drive #1 (Kickstarter campaign) is now LIVE!

Lots of users, but not so much recent activity on forum, so I'm not sure how many know of the campaign. I didn't get an email, so it was just chance I happened to visit last weekend.
It's a great offer and, I suspect, important to enable/encourage the development of BRPG/BGE2.
All the best with it.

Re: BG Content Drive #1 (Kickstarter campaign) is now LIVE!

It's creeping up, though not very fast.
Looks as if it would get there eventually. Hope it is within the time limit (I have subscribed myself )

Don't worry too much about the DJ forums :D Migrating the forums and the enormous amount of data from the forums database will take a while. And another 2+ weeks and still no DJ forums. I know there's a lot of data involved, but I'd expect to do that sort of simple transfer in no more than a day. A...

I've no idea exactly what the numbers are, but I'd be astonished if there were sufficient sales for this to be profitable as a purely commercial venture. Possibly there would be scope if it wre just converting an adaption done for another system, or if a number of systems were being targeted. Most l...

For me, that's a limit not a trade-off. I don't really use maps without a FoW.

Ah, I wasn't clear about that. Should have been really since I know what the art packs are. I can see why the copy protection is wanted/needed.

Stunning images, though I don't often use armies etc in the poses shown. More frequently a few not so glossy men-at-arms supposedly on guard outside a door or squelching along as a bodyguard. One point I would make is that, if I were buying, I'd like the resolution to be at least 200dpi. I already r...

Yes, it seems to me to have fallen off generally, and if that's what you see in your journeys across the RPG net, then I'm sure it must the true. But the DJ forums were always the real powerhouse the creation of user art and dissemination of techniques etc. I think it has generally been true that wh...

Where is new art being created now?

Way back, the DungeonCrafter site was a major centre of User Created art. Then Dundjinni brought a real explosion in the quality and quantity of User Art. More recently, that explosion appears to be much reduced. Of course, a lot of stuff has already been created, so maybe that's it. It also seems t...

I use both and they work well. Zicon doesn't seem to mention one of the main USPs of the current version of Evernote (3) which is that is syncs notebooks to the web if you want (you can set up as many notebooks as you want all with different rules). It will also make notebooks publically available t...

I forgot I'm trying to also figure out, about player base. I would hate invest in a VT that had a very small player base and you couldn't get many games going I don't think you can really make decisions based on this. If you have interested players who already use a VTT, then go with what they use ...

I'm not really understanding how that would work, Dormouse. "Standard" times will vary so much from system to system as to be nearly worthless. What do you really learn if you know that things render in under a second on the GM's machine, but it's taking 10 seconds to update on your machine? How do...

I don't know whether it would be possible, but how about a script that can run automatically using the prog (would need to be a GM & player version) using a range of the features? Could be run stand alone and hosted. Given a 'standard' time, it should be possible to see whether issues are related to...

It's worth remembering how difficult managing simultaneous multi-user access is. The simple way is freezing access so that only one user at a time can can make changes. For anything more complex there has to be a protocol that decides which changes (of whose changes) take priority, plus a complex sy...

I think newcomers fall into two groups - Those who are being brought in by friends (in which case the friends will show them good images) or those who are researching VTTs and they will probably be perfectly able to load some of their own maps and images to see how they look. I'd tend to agree with ...

Just these two things make it a non-event in my books and I feel it should be withdrawn till it works... thats not withdrawn and new features added.. or withdrawn and a new wargame product discussed but withdrawn and FIXED. If Artpacks are a better way of doing media bundles, then it would be helpful if everyone could do them. Possibility of multiple free, user-generated Artpacks then. :)

Of course, that might hit the market for commercial Artpacks. :?
