BRPG v1.2b beta released

Post by heruca » Fri May 02, 2008 1:32 am

This is a patch, not a full install. It is intended to fix a number of bugs that were found in v1.2a shortly after its release. This patch contains only the files that have changed since v1.2a, so you must already have v1.2a installed in order to use this patch.

The format for Encounters and Deployments has not changed since v1.2a.

See the included ReadMe file for details about what bugs have been fixed and what other changes have been made.

Download BRPG v1.2b PATCH here:
Windows version: http://www.battlegroundsgames.com/V1_2B_Win_Patch.zip
Mac version: http://www.battlegroundsgames.com/V1_2B_Mac_Patch.zip

How to "install" this patch: Unzip the downloaded file, then simply move the included files (that's files, not folders) into your BRPG v1.2a folder and overwrite the existing files when prompted. Make sure you do NOT accidentally overwrite your Encounters folder or your Media Asset Bundles folder. Lastly, copy over the contents of the new Encounters folder into your v1.2a Encounters folder, and copy the contents of the new Media Asset Bundles folder into your v1.2a Media Asset Bundles folder.

-- EDIT by Omni: Full download version now available.

I'll see about posting full installs soon, for those who don't want to deal with the hassle of manually patching v1.2a.

Thought some people might find it useful to see what's been fixed in this release, so here's the relevant part of the ReadMe file:
  • Version History:
    v1.2b

¢ Reinstated the "Import Encounter Assets" command.
¢ Change: Players may now inspect macros, but if they inspect a macro that the GM rolled, there is no trace of whether the dice roll was fudged or not. This change was made because it is very helpful for players to be able to make test rolls and to be able to make changes to their dice macro settings until they get the settings just right, prior to saving a dice macro.
¢ Developed a new, cross-platform version of the Dice Macro/Die Roller window. In prior releases, different source files were used for the Mac and Windows versions, but this proved too unwieldy for ensuring that changes and bug fixes were kept in sync across platforms, so this approach was abandoned.
¢ Added a snap-to-grid function to the measurement feature.
¢ Added an option (available in the third Preferences screen) to round up range measurements to the nearest whole number and display the measured range as an integer. This option is on by default.
¢ The file "User Cast.cxt" no longer comes pre-loaded with the media assets that are used in the sample Encounters that come with BRPG. That media now comes in its own distinct media bundles, which are imported on demand. Less bloat in the "User Cast.cxt" file should result in better performance and lower RAM usage.
¢ Created external media asset bundles for the four sample Encounters that are included with BRPG.
¢ Filename extensions (e.g., the ".txt" suffixes) are now trimmed when showing the list of Reference Tables that can be linked to a Dice Macro.
¢ Now if a revoked License code is detected, the "License.txt" file in the Prefs folder is deleted automatically, and the user will have to input his License information again. This is to prevent a situation where the user's Challenge Code has changed but the user cannot input their new Response Code because BRPG is still reading in the obsolete license info and causing the Response Code field to be disabled (and the wrong Challenge Code to be displayed). This change should also prevent an issue that a few users have reported, where their license data was invalidated on the second use of BRPG after the License was installed.
¢ The Purge Media panel now has access to a greater portion of the multimedia database than before.
¢ Bug fix: The "Export Encounter Assets" command now works properly again.
¢ Bug fix: The "Export Encounter Assets" command now saves media bundles into the "Media Asset Bundles" folder rather than into BRPG's root folder.
¢ Bug fix: Clicking on the "Roll Dice" button on the Command panel no longer produces an error.
¢ Bug fix: Clicking on the "Card Table" button on the Command panel no longer produces an error.
¢ Bug fix: Clicking on the "Draw Tools" button on the Command panel no longer produces an error.
¢ Bug fix: The custom red and green cursors for the Fog of War reveal/conceal functions are no longer missing.
¢ Bug fix: Updating the Fog of War no longer produces an error if an object is deployed on the map.
¢ Bug fix: Clicking on another unit if an object is already selected no longer produces an error.
¢ Bug fix: The scaling and placement of Manual Fog of War Reveals and Conceals is now correct.
¢ Bug fix: The Manual Fog of War mask now renders properly.
¢ Bug fix: Vision multipliers now affect light sources attached to objects.
¢ Bug fix: The Dice Macro commands are now included in the BG button's popup menu, even if there are no saved macros present.
¢ Bug fix: No more false-positives when testing to see if a given license code is already in use when a player logs in.
¢ Bug fix: The proper table is now selected on the Dice Macro configuration screen, when a dice macro is loaded or inspected.
¢ Bug fix: A repeating error no longer occurs if the GM purges media (intentionally or accidentally) that is "in use" in the current Encounter.
