BRPG v1.2c beta released

Post by heruca » Thu May 08, 2008 6:24 pm

This is a patch, not a full install. It is intended to fix a number of bugs that were found in v1.2b shortly after its release. It also adds a faster and more efficient means of loading dice macros, as well as the ability to automatically roll a dice macro upon selection (for those times when you know you don't want to make any last-minute modifications to the roll). Thumbnail image previews when browsing through your media collection have also been greatly improved.

This patch contains only the files that have changed since v1.2b, so you must already have v1.2b installed in order to use this patch.

The format for Encounters and Deployments has not changed since v1.2b.

See the included ReadMe file for details about what bugs have been fixed and what other changes have been made.

Download BRPG v1.2c PATCH here:
Windows version: http://www.battlegroundsgames.com/V1_2C_Win_Patch.zip
Mac version: http://www.battlegroundsgames.com/V1_2C_Mac_Patch.zip

How to "install" this patch: Unzip the downloaded file, then simply move the included files into your BRPG v1.2b folder and overwrite the existing files when prompted. The only exception is the file called "Random Weather.txt", which should be placed in "\Dice Macros\Reference Tables\" after deleting the file called "Random Weather" which currently resides there.

Although the ReadMe file with the information below is contained in the v1.2c download, some people might find it useful to see the changes & additions prior to downloading the zip file.

Version History:
v1.2c

¢ The "Animate Rolls" checkbox has been removed from the dice roller window, and can now be found on the third Preferences screen. The setting is also now stored between BRPG sessions.
¢ Change: Dice macros can now either be loaded by selecting them (default, which gives you a chance to edit the macro prior to rolling it), or they can be loaded and automatically rolled, by holding down the Shift key while selecting the dice macro.
¢ Both the Dice Macro configuration screen and the Die Roll Results screen now have a new button for loading dice macros. Clicking on it invokes a popup menu which lists not only global dice macros, but also dice macros attached to figures and dice macros attached to units, all nicely organized. This should make loading dice macros significantly faster than before. Users may also choose to automatically roll a dice macro immediately after loading it, by holding down the Shift key while selecting a dice macro.
¢ Removed the old "Load Macro..." button from the Dice Roll configuration screen, as it had become superfluous.
¢ Included a renamed Dice Macro Reference Table, which was accidentally omitted from the v1.2b patch and full install.
¢ Change: Thumbnail previews of bitmap images that are smaller than the image preview area now display at actual size, to avoid pixelation. In prior releases, small items were stretched to fill the image preview area, sometimes causing considerable pixelation.
¢ Bug fix: When using a Fog of War Overlay, the Fog of War masks are always rendered at the highest resolution, to ensure proper scaling of the Manual Fog of War mask and a seamless interaction with the map layer.
¢ Bug fix: The grid overlay no longer turns on after using the Preferences panel, if the grid was hidden prior to calling up the Preferences panel.
¢ Bug fix: The text fields for specifying target numbers for roll success and critical hit/failure determination are now editable when inspecting a saved dice macro.
¢ Bug fix: Deleting a figure designated as the Attacker or as the Target now removes the "Attacker" and "Target" labels from the map.
¢ Bug fix: Loading a new Encounter while a deployed figure is designated as the Attacker or as the Target now removes the "Attacker" and "Target" labels from the map.
¢ Bug fix: When loading an Encounter, if the required media assets have already been purged, there is no longer an error message or series of error messages as BRPG tries to draw each unit.
¢ Bug fix: The Command panel no longer disappears after another application is brought to the foreground, if it was open at the time that BRPG lost focus.
¢ Bug fix: Addressed a case where a randomly generated unique unit ID code (transparent to the user) might not be truly unique.
¢ Bug fix: Imported Fog of War Overlays no longer show a misplaced thumbnail preview after restarting BRPG.
