Unit Deployment issues (106a) [FIXED]

Post by Helizar » Mon Mar 12, 2007 11:01 pm

Sorry to list this bug, as I wish I didn't have to. But I can't seem to deploy the units that I have saved. I saved some units using ver 106a, but when I try to load them, I can't load any of them. Even after restarting the program. The only unit I can load is the default Standard Marching Order unit. Also, after attempting to load my units that I made, I can't add any figures. I get a Script Error message. I can load figures if I don't attempt to load a saved unit, or if I load the Standard Marching Order unit.

Could you please clarify? Is it that you can't load Deployment files created with v1.0.6a? Or that you can't load Encounters saved out of v1.0.6a?

And are you saying that after a failed attempt at loading, no further figure deployment is possible?

It will not load Deployment files that I create in ver 1.0.6a. After I attempt to load a Deployment file that I created, I can not add a figure using "Place a Figure" when double-clicking on the map. I get "Out of Range - Script Error" when attempting to Place A Figure after attempting to load a Deployment file I created. The only Deployment file that 1.0.6a will load is the Standard Marching PC Order file.

I can Place A Figure anytime, so long as I don't attempt to load a Deployment file that I created.

OK, sounds like a problem in the code that saves the deployment, or in the code that loads deployments. Please email me a sample Deployment file that won't load.

PS: This problem presumably also exists in v1.0.6, but just never got reported.

It seems one of the variables that defines a unit isn't getting saved properly in v1.0.6a. I'll fix this for v1.0.6b. In the meantime, here's a workaround.

Here is the content of your Deployment file you sent me:
[[314, "Token_Hoplite01_SR", 579.5000, 1250.5000, 1, "Figure", 1, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, "Kyle", 25, 91, 1, 0, "GM", "", 0, [], [], [], [], 0, 0, 0, 0, "4 1331abc8", [], 0, 1, 2, [], "None", 11, "Label 4", 657, 658, "GM", "", "Clear", 10, 1, "S1", [], 0, "None", "Above", "None"]]
Edit it in Notepad so that it reads like this:
[[314, "Token_Hoplite01_SR", 579.5000, 1250.5000, 1, "Figure", 1, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, "Kyle", 25, 91, 1, 0, "GM", "", 0, [], [], [], [], 0, 0, 0, 0, "4 1331abc8", [], 0, 1, [], 2, [], "None", 11, "Label 4", 657, 658, "GM", "", "Clear", 10, 1, "S1", [], 0, "None", "Above", "None"]]
I highlighted in red so you can see where to add the ", []". If anyone is curious, those brackets normally contain the list of audio files attached to that unit (e.g., ", ["Sword Swing", "Howl in Pain"]").

Save the file. It should now load properly in BRPG.

Full Bleed, do you think you might go through the bug reports and close the ones that you can confirm were fixed in v1.0.6b? (you can use the ReadMe notes as a guide for which ones you need to confirm)

Or do you prefer to wait for v1.0.7 and just do them all in one sweep?

I mention this because my morale goes up when the bug list gets short. But the inverse is also true.

Sure, I was due to update the list soon and planned on doing it right after 1.07. But I can probably knock off a few now.

My primary goal is to make sure it doesn't get to 2+ pages again. :)
