Bug: Image format JPEG vs JPG (1.03, 1.04)

Post by Halebop » Thu Jan 19, 2006 5:34 am

Image formats with the JPEG suffix aren't recognised but are still technically the same as JPG

Confirmed. Just fixed it for the next release. Man, I wish all fixes were this easy! :D

Placing a JPEG map results in a script error. Continuing causes the existing map to delete and reveal the background image only. (Windows XP, BG v1.04)

It works fine if you rename the image with a "jpg" extension.

It seems to be a limitation of the authoring environment that it won't import files with a "jpeg" suffix. There's absolutely nothing in my code that's preventing it. So I'm afraid that the best I can do is require you to rename your jpegs if you want to use them in BRPG. Sorry.

Since this won't be getting fixed, I'd suggest removing it from the official Bug List.

Heruca, can't you put a catch at the beginning of the import and rename the file if it's got the jpeg extension?

Yes, if I spend the money on some third party plug in that lets me manipulate external files. Which it looks like I need to do for other reasons anyway...

:(. Sorry, thought you could probably do this as part of the standard development tools...

Don't be sorry! What you proposed is a perfectly viable solution, and I may well be implementing it.
