New Maps and Stuff

Post by Venger » Tue Jul 10, 2007 9:09 pm

Hey Heruca, what is the possibility of removing the previous postings under Vengers maps, unless there is something in there worth keeping from your perspective, I would just like to start over if you dont mind

Is there a quick way for the admin to remove or archive these old postings?

We have an archive forum for old posts that I can move the old thread to if you wish.

I can also split the posts into separate threads and put only part of it in the archive if you would prefer.

Or I could make you a Developers Forum if you feel you could make use of many threads.

For now, I've moved the whole "Venger's Maps" thread to an archived forum. Feel free to start a new thread for your new maps.

Later, when there's more time, we can see about combing through the older stuff and reposting the best maps from the old thread. Sound good?

Sounds great! Thanks

Did I read somewhere that images can now be uploaded directly into this forum instead of linking?

Yes, if you're signed in. It's quite handy, and easy to use.

hiyas

I tried to Upload a map today, a jpg a little over 5meg in size, and I received an Error... "Tried to Upload Empty File"

So I opened PS and regenerated the map under a different name as a jpg and tried again with the same error.

I tried 5 times and with each attempt there was an extremely long delay, some 3 or so minutes before timing out.

please advise

Is the file under 10 MB? That seems to be the current size limit for uploads.

I just increased the limit to 20 MB. See if that helps.

It's possible that my webhost has a limit in their configuration that overrides that, but I doubt it.

Either way, if you need an FTP account & webspace, I can make one for you.

I've tried to post some maps between the sizes of 4 and just under 10 MB and the site rejects them, giving me the message telling me that it tried to upload an empty file. If I keep the file size under 4 MB, the upload seems to go fine. Unfortunately that means I'm not able to post any 4000 X 4000 pixel maps.

Hmm. You could always post those on rpgmapshare.com.

You might be able to get them a bit smaller by zipping them.

Again, if you have a lot of large maps you want to share, I can give you some webspace and an FTP account.

Thanks for the advice. I'll try with a low-res sample and a zip file of the hi-res version for now and see how that works. Maybe once I start getting a lot of maps done I'll take you up on your webspace offer.

Thanks,
Prism Shard

Hmm I checked and it seems the webhost has set the upload limit to a measly 4 MB. (Well, still better than the default which is 2 MB).

I'll see if I can get that raised.

As mentioned elsewhere, the max upload limit has been raised to 20MB.
