BRPG v1.0.3 beta released

Post by heruca » Mon Dec 25, 2006 5:07 am

BRPG v1.0.3 is now available for download. It is to be considered in beta status for the time being. If nothing major is found to be wrong with it in the next two weeks or so, I'll take it out of beta and it will become the default BRPG download. And if something is wrong with it, I'll fix it and re-release it.

This is a full install, not a patch. The main focus of this update is adding a highly-customizable autosave feature. Other enhancements include the ability to store the last-used connection preferences between BRPG sessions, and the addition of new hex base sizes.

As usual, see the included ReadMe file for more details.

Download BRPG v1.0.3 here:
(be sure to get the right one for your platform)
<Edit: download links removed, obsolete version>

Installation instructions are included in each zip file.

Hmm, no feedback on v1.0.3.

Does this mean it works perfectly, or that no one is using it? I'm guessing it's just the busy holiday season and no one's had time for testing/playing.

Yeah, my friends are home for the holidays so I've been busy catching up.

'Fraid so, here, too. I'm starting to rev up for a restart to on-line gaming next week, but the holiday season was fun and far too busy, socially, for much 'putin' to get done!

Happy New Year to all here, by the way! :D

I've done no formal testing, but I have played around with it, and so far I don't believe I've found many bugs. I still need to test the map transfer, but other than that it's looking good.

In fact, the only bug I've found is the occasional fatal error on start up, but its rare any more. I will be using the program in an actual game this Saturday, and I'll be taking notes, so I may have more then. THat's the best way to test.

By any chance, did you ALT-Tab away from BRPG while it was launching when you got that error?

I agree that running an actual game session is the best way to test. Looking forward to your feedback.

I didn't ALT-tab away, but I did click away.

What do you all think? Now that v1.0.4 is out, should I take v1.0.3 out of beta status and make it the default download?

I know v1.0.3 hasn't gotten much testing from you all, but I doubt many people will bother with it, now that v1.0.4 is available.

FWIW I would say leave 1.0.2b as the 'Production' download since this has some significant 'for real' testing and is known to be fairly robust. There seems to be an open question about 1.0.3 with players logged on; I would say either leave 1.0.3 available as a beta until those questions are resolved or just have 1.0.4 as the next 'full' version.

You mentioned 1.0.4. Can you point me to a link to that version?

I've pulled the v1.0.3 downloads from this site, as it's made obsolete by the newer versions, and I don't want folks bothering with testing it.

I think v1.0.5 is going to be the one we should all focus on now, so that I can take it out of beta status ASAP and make it the new official release (skipping right past v1.0.3 and v1.0.4, which never got out of beta).

If anyone really wants v1.0.3 for some reason, they can still get it from Omnidon's backup server. The link is on page one of this thread.
